Reviews and feedback

What people tell us, how we handle testimonials, and a short checklist for judging any online converter, this one included.

Our position on reviews. This page shows no testimonials and no star rating, because we do not have verified ones to show. Making them up would be dishonest, and marking up a fake rating in structured data breaks Google's spam policies. When real feedback arrives from people willing to be named, it goes here as they wrote it.

How to judge any online converter in two minutes

You should not have to take a website's word about what it does with your files. Every check below is something you can run yourself, on this site or any other.

  1. Watch the network. Open developer tools with F12 or Cmd+Option+I, go to the Network tab, and convert a file. A tool that processes on a server sends a large POST request that takes as long as your upload speed allows. A local tool sends nothing.
  2. Pull the plug. Load the page, disconnect from wi-fi, then convert. If it still works, nothing was being uploaded. If it fails, your file was going somewhere.
  3. Check how long they keep files. Server based converters usually promise deletion after a few hours. That is a promise about their retention policy, not a technical guarantee, and it only exists because your file was uploaded in the first place.
  4. Look for a real file cap. Free tiers that stop at two files usually mean a paid tier is the actual product and you are the trial.
  5. Test what it does to the sample rate. Convert a 48 kHz file and check the result. A converter that hands back 44.1 kHz resampled your audio without telling you.
  6. Read the output in something else. Open the WAV in Audacity or run ffprobe file.wav and confirm the bit depth, sample rate, and channel count are what you asked for.

Run those against this site and you should find: no upload request, working offline, no cap, sample rate preserved, and output that ffprobe reports as clean PCM. If you find otherwise, that is a bug and we want to hear about it.

What we checked before publishing

Rather than describing the converter as reliable, here is what was actually tested. The WAV writer was validated against ffmpeg: 16-bit, 24-bit, and 32-bit float output decode as pcm_s16le, pcm_s24le, and pcm_f32le, with correct durations, sample rates, and channel counts. Sample values round-trip to within one least significant bit, and float output is bit exact. Clipping behaviour was tested with deliberately over-full-scale input. The ZIP writer was checked by extracting archives with Windows and comparing checksums against the source files, including filenames with accented characters.

None of that makes the tool perfect. It does mean the claims on this site were verified rather than assumed, and it tells you exactly what to re-test if you suspect something is wrong.

Send feedback

Useful feedback is specific. Any of these help:

Email hello@mp3towave.org. If you are happy to be quoted here, say so, and tell us how you would like to be credited. Nothing gets published without permission, and we will not tidy up your wording to sound more enthusiastic than you were.

Testimonial policy

If and when this page carries quotes, these are the rules it will follow:

Common questions

Why are there no testimonials on this page?

Because we do not have any we can verify, and inventing them would be both dishonest and against Google's spam policies. When real feedback arrives from people happy to be quoted, it will appear here with their permission and without editing the awkward parts out.

Do you have a star rating?

No. A star rating with no reviews behind it is decoration. Sites that show one anyway, including several converters that mark up a 4.8 out of 2,000 votes nobody ever cast, are risking a manual penalty as well as misleading you.

How can I tell if an online converter is trustworthy?

Open your browser developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and convert a file. If the file is uploaded you will see a large POST request. If nothing leaves, the tool is genuinely local. It takes about thirty seconds and works on any converter, including this one.

Will you review other converters?

Not with scores. Ranking competitors on your own site is marketing wearing a lab coat. The checklist on this page is more useful, because it lets you judge any tool including this one.
